I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we’re looking for
You’ll be someone who enjoys working in a busy sales environment and can balance excellent customer service with strong commercial awareness.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Strong organisation and attention to detail
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and priorities
- A good understanding of the sales process and how opportunities progress
- Good general knowledge of IT and technology
- The ability to work accurately with CRM systems, sales data and reporting
- A proactive approach — someone who sees what needs doing and gets on with it
Experience within B2B sales, sales administration, account management or the IT industry would be particularly useful, especially if you’ve worked with software, hardware, licensing or IT services.
Due to the nature of the customers supported by this role, candidates will need to meet the relevant UK residency and security requirements associated with working with Central Government customers.
