Role Description

The Internal Account Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in York. This position is responsible for managing existing customer accounts, handling inbound inquiries, and providing product information and quotations. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Processing orders
  • Maintaining accurate customer records
  • Coordinating with operations and logistics to ensure timely delivery of products
  • Proactively following up on leads

  • Supporting the external sales team with customer insights and data
  • Resolving customer issues
  • Monitoring account performance
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of internal processes and customer service standards

Qualifications

  • Account management and customer service skills, including building relationships, handling enquiries, and resolving issues professionally.
  • Sales and negotiation abilities, with experience in upselling, cross-selling, and identifying growth opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Administrative and organizational skills, including order processing, data entry, and maintaining accurate CRM or database records.
  • Communication skills, with clear, concise written and verbal communication and the ability to explain technical product information to customers.
  • General IT proficiency, including use of email, spreadsheets, and business software; experience with CRM systems is an advantage.
  • Experience in construction, hire, or industrial products sectors, or familiarity with tools/machinery, is beneficial.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a busy commercial environment.
  • Relevant education or training in business, sales, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent practical experience is also valued.
