Internal Account Manager (Builder’s Merchant / Trade Sales)

Gorgie, Edinburgh
£30,000 – £34,000 + Profit Share
Full Time | Monday–Friday | 8am–5pm

We are a well-established, independent builder’s merchant supplying trade professionals across Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. Our customers range from subcontract joiners and fit-out specialists to housebuilders and local contractors.

We operate with the agility and personality of an independent business, combined with the professionalism and commercial focus of a high-performing sales organisation. Our team takes pride in delivering exceptional service while actively winning and growing business.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a commercially minded Internal Account Manager to take ownership of an established portfolio of trade accounts while identifying opportunities to strengthen relationships and grow revenue.

This is not a passive role — it is a position suited to someone who enjoys winning business, building lasting trade relationships, and making a measurable impact.

You will be joining a high-performing, commercially driven team where your contribution is visible and genuinely valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and developing a portfolio of existing trade customers
  • Handling inbound enquiries efficiently and professionally
  • Producing accurate, competitive quotations and pricing materials
  • Proactively generating repeat business through customer contact
  • Identifying dormant accounts and reactivating them
  • Spotting opportunities to upsell and maximise account value
  • Collaborating with the wider sales team to secure orders
  • Delivering the high level of service professional contractors expect

What We’re Looking For

Ideal Experience:

  • Previous experience within a builder’s merchant, construction supply, or trade sales environment
  • Strong product awareness (fixings, ironmongery, tools, or general building materials)
  • Experience managing customer relationships or accounts
  • Confidence pricing work and negotiating orders
