Sizewell C's Business

Sizewell C’s business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk. Overall, whilst the Company is in the construction phase, the Boards’ principal focus is on the development and construction of Sizewell C on time, on budget and to the highest quality and safety standards. The Company is maturing to meet all these requirements.

Sizewell C is economically regulated by OFGEM under the RAB model similar to other UK electricity distribution networks and Thames Tideway.

Sizewell C construction strategy is to replicate the design of Hinkley Point C, using the majority of the same supply chain, but innovating in the way it is delivered to achieve savings in time and cost of around 20%. The CCO will need to be guided by and incorporate lessons learned from the Hinkley Point C commercial delivery to achieve Sizewell C’s ambition.

Following Financial Completion and Revenue Commencement, Sizewell C is fully funded and is owned by; The Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero representing HM Government, La Caisse, Centrica, EDF and Amber Infrastructure.

Internal Audit Manager

Location: Manchester or London, with hybrid working and attendance in the office 2 to 3 days per week. Travel between Manchester and London will be required as and when needed.

Contract: Permanent, full-time.

Salary: £75,840 to £86,000 per annum, depending on experience + bonus + benefits.

As our project continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Internal Audit Manager to play a pivotal role in strengthening governance, risk management and control across the business. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high performing internal audit function and influence decision making at the heart of one of the UK's most exciting megaprojects.

Why Join Sizewell C as an Internal Audit Manager?

This is a genuinely broad and varied internal audit role. You'll work across financial, operational, compliance and project related activities, leading complex audit engagements from planning through to reporting and action tracking. You'll have the opportunity to engage with senior stakeholders across the organisation, shape audit delivery and contribute to the development of the risk based Internal Audit Plan.

We're looking for someone who enjoys building relationships, influencing senior stakeholders and delivering high quality assurance activity that helps improve business performance. The role is very much suited to a strong internal audit manager who can confidently manage audits from start to finish while supporting and developing others within the team.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading multiple internal audit engagements across the organisation from planning through to reporting and follow up actions.
  • Managing audit scopes, risk assessments, testing strategies, findings and audit reports.
  • Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders and acting as a trusted advisor throughout audit engagements.
  • Supporting the development and refresh of the risk based Internal Audit Plan.
  • Working closely with co sourced audit providers and other assurance functions.
  • Providing oversight, coaching and development support to Senior Internal Auditors.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of audit methodologies, processes and quality standards.
  • Supporting governance forums and presenting audit findings and recommendations where required.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Significant experience of internal audit.
  • Experience managing audit engagements from planning through fieldwork, reporting and action tracking.
  • Previous line management or team leadership experience.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills and experience producing high quality audit reports.
  • Experience operating within large, complex or regulated organisations, or from a Big 4 professional services background.
  • A strong understanding of governance, risk and internal control frameworks.
  • Professional qualifications such as CIA, ACA, ACCA, CA, CPA or equivalent.
