This Manager role within Governance, Risk and Compliance Services offers the opportunity to lead a portfolio of public sector grants assurance and outsourced internal audit engagements, helping clients strengthen governance, controls and accountability. Working with local authorities and other public sector organisations, the successful candidate will influence key financial, operational and risk decisions while managing multiple client relationships and delivery teams. The role combines technical leadership, client engagement, quality assurance and business development within a growing area of KPMG’s Consulting practice. About the role

This role sits within Advisory, where teams help clients address complex challenges, manage risk and improve performance. Governance, Risk and Compliance Services supports public sector organisations through grants assurance, internal audit, risk management, governance reviews and control improvement services. As a Manager, you will lead the delivery of client engagements, build trusted stakeholder relationships and contribute to the growth and development of the practice.

Roles and responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of local authority grants assurance and public sector internal audit engagements, ensuring high-quality delivery and compliance with relevant requirements.
• Manage engagements from planning through to completion, including scope definition, resourcing, budgeting, risk management and quality review.
• Act as the primary client contact, building effective relationships with senior finance and operational stakeholders.
• Review testing, evidence and reporting outputs, ensuring findings are accurate, well supported and clearly communicated.
• Deliver risk management, governance, controls and assurance reviews that help clients improve performance and accountability.
• Prepare and present audit committee papers, client reports, proposals and tender responses to support client service and business growth.
• Coach, develop and performance-manage team members, creating opportunities to strengthen technical and consulting capabilities.
• Work collaboratively across KPMG advisory teams to bring the right expertise to client engagements and identify new opportunities.
