We are representing a consultancy partner that is supporting a FinTech client through a significant Financial Crime transformation programme.

As part of this work, the client is looking to strengthen its Internal Audit capacity and capability with an experienced contractor who can provide independent review, technical challenge and assurance, particularly around model validation.

The Role:

Working as part of the Internal Audit function, you will provide assurance over model-driven processes and controls and engage directly with senior stakeholders across the business.

The assignment will require someone who can combine strong Internal Audit experience with the technical capability to assess and challenge models, methodologies and automated controls.

Responsibilities are expected to include:

  • Reviewing and validating models and their underlying methodologies, assumptions and controls
  • Providing independent assurance and challenge from an Internal Audit perspective
  • Assessing the design and effectiveness of automated and model-driven controls
  • Reviewing and testing Transaction Monitoring controls where relevant
  • Assessing more technically complex approaches, including automated, machine-learning and model-driven solutions
  • Identifying control weaknesses, investigating issues in sufficient depth and escalating concerns appropriately
  • Engaging confidently with senior management and clearly communicating Internal Audit findings and recommendations

Candidate Requirements:

The key requirements for this assignment are:

  • Strong Internal Audit experience
  • Demonstrable model validation, model review or model risk experience
  • Experience providing independent challenge and assurance to senior stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and technical capability
  • The confidence to challenge senior management and escalate issues when required

Previous Financial Crime experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Candidates with experience reviewing or validating Financial Crime or Transaction Monitoring models, or designing/testing Transaction Monitoring controls, would be particularly relevant.

Engagement Details:

The engagement is expected to run for approximately 3 months initially, ideally on a 5-day-per-week basis.

The successful candidate will need to work onsite in London for a minimum of 2 days per week.

Due to the urgency of the requirement, candidates should ideally be immediately available or able to start within 2 weeks.

The rate is flexible for the right candidate and will reflect the specialist nature of the experience required.
