Internal Audit and Risk Manager
Location: Covent Garden, London (hybrid + global travel opportunities)
Type: Permanent, full-time
About The Role
Looking for more than a traditional Internal Audit role?
Due to continued growth within both the team and the wider business, we are seeking an Internal Audit & Risk Manager to join our Group Internal Audit & Risk (IAR) function. This is an opportunity to go beyond delivering audits; as a key member of the team, you will help provide independent assurance, insight, and advice that enhances and protects organisational value across BSI's global operations.
Here are just some of the reasons to join our team…
- Award-winning team: Join the team recognised as 'Outstanding Team – Private Sector' by the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors in 2024, reflecting our commitment to delivering high-quality, value-adding assurance.
- Global Organisation with International Travel: With operations in over 80 countries, you'll lead audits across our global business up to 20%, experiencing multiple trips per year to cities across the world, offering you exposure to diverse markets and cultures.
- Hybrid Working in Central London: Work as part of a collaborative, London-based team with 1–2 days per week in our brand-new, sustainable headquarters in the heart of Covent Garden.
- Influence Risk Management at its Source: As the organisation behind ISO 31000, the internationally recognised standard for risk management, BSI sits at the heart of global best practice. There's no better place to deepen your expertise and build your career than where it all begins; join a business that doesn't just follow best practice – it defines it.
- Line Management: Alongside delivering audits, you'll lead and develop others by line managing Senior Auditors and coaching Guest Auditors and subject matter experts, helping to develop talent within a growing function.
- Expand into Enterprise Risk Management: Develop your expertise beyond internal audit by playing a key role in embedding BSI's Enterprise Risk Management framework.
- Exposure to Executive Leadership: Partner with Executive Leadership, the Audit Committee, and Board-level stakeholders to help shape governance, risk management, and control across the Group.
- Ownership from Day One: Take ownership of audits from planning through to reporting and action tracking, with the autonomy to deliver insightful, value-adding assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead risk-based financial, operational and strategic audits from planning through to reporting across BSI's global operations.
- Produce high-quality, insightful audit reports that drive meaningful business improvement and support effective decision-making.
- Build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including Executive Leadership, Audit Committee and Board members.
- Facilitate risk reviews and support the ongoing development and implementation of BSI's Enterprise Risk Management framework.
- Support the development of the annual audit plan, committee reporting and continuous improvement initiatives across the function.
- Monitor and challenge the timely implementation of agreed management actions.
- Identify opportunities to enhance audit methodologies, strengthen controls and improve organisational effectiveness.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
