Description
We are looking for an Internal Auditor to provide independent assurance on how effectively we manage risk, controls and governance across Benchmark.
You will support the delivery of the internal audit plan, review key processes across the business, and provide clear, practical recommendations that strengthen our control environment.
This role offers broad exposure across Wealth Management, Platform and Group functions, working closely with senior stakeholders.
What you'll do
- Deliver end-to-end internal audits, including planning, fieldwork, reporting and follow-up
- Assess the design and effectiveness of controls across key risk areas
- Identify control gaps, risks and improvement opportunities with clear, practical recommendations
- Track audit actions to completion, ensuring issues are resolved in a timely way
- Produce concise, high-quality audit reports for senior stakeholders and governance forums
- Build strong relationships across the business, including senior management
- Support ad hoc reviews, thematic audits and investigations
- Contribute to continuous improvement of audit methodology and tools
- Provide insight on emerging risks and trends across the business

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
- Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIA or equivalent)
- Experience in internal audit, risk or controls within Financial Services
- Strong understanding of the UK regulatory environment, particularly FCA expectations
- Good knowledge of wealth management, platforms or investment products
- Ability to assess end-to-end processes and identify control weaknesses
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Clear and structured report writing
- Confidence engaging stakeholders at all levels
Desirable:
- Experience in wealth management, financial planning or platform businesses
- Exposure to SM&CR and conduct risk frameworks
- Experience using data or analytics in audit testing
The base
You'll be based at the Benchmark Head Office, within our Broadlands Business Campus near Horsham in West Sussex but will need to be present across our other offices, including the main Schroders headquarters in London. It has high standards and international reputation, without being in the city: a big, countryside campus means life will feel a little different.
