Job Description
Are you an experienced audit or assurance professional looking to develop your career within a global technology business?
We’re looking for an Internal Auditor to join our Assurance team in Newcastle. You’ll help deliver the Internal Audit Plan for Sage Group plc, working across a varied portfolio of audits alongside Assurance colleagues and our third-party co-source provider. The role offers excellent exposure to Sage leadership and the opportunity to build trusted relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
At Sage we have a hybrid working pattern - candidates must be able to work in the Newcastle office 3 days a week and 2 from home.
Key Responsibilities
What you’ll be doing:
- Planning and delivering assigned audits, from initial scoping and fieldwork through to reporting
- Producing an Audit Planning Memo for each review and ensuring the appropriate stakeholders are engaged
- Documenting audit work to Sage Assurance quality standards using our dedicated audit management tool
- Keeping management informed of progress, findings and potential issues throughout each audit
- Coordinating and leading audit opening and closing meetings
- Producing clear, accurate and high-quality audit reports
- Supporting management to develop remediation action plans and tracking agreed actions through to completion
- Contributing to the continued development of our Assurance methodology and internal audit practices
- Supporting management information and KPI reporting
- Building effective working relationships across the business and with third-party providers

We’re looking for someone who is:
- Proactive, collaborative and comfortable taking ownership of their work
- A confident communicator with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders across different business areas.
- Motivated by learning and professional development
- Able to challenge existing ways of working constructively
- Highly organised, comfortable managing competing priorities and able to deliver high-quality work within agreed deadlines.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- At least two years’ experience delivering internal audit or related assurance services
- Practical knowledge of internal audit methodologies and relevant professional standards
- Experience planning and carrying out high-quality control testing
- Exposure to IT internal audit, information security or another related risk area
- Experience using audit management or similar management software
- Experience working within a multinational organisation with distributed teams and functions
- Willing to travel internationally when required, which may account for up to 20–25% of the role

We’re also looking for someone committed to continued professional development and willing to work towards an appropriate professional qualification. A degree, professional internal audit qualification such as IAP, CIA, AAT or CISA, or progress towards a relevant qualification through an apprenticeship or technical route would be advantageous.
