Job Description

Are you a passionate communications leader who thrives on bringing people together, driving engagement and helping colleagues navigate change?

We're looking for an Internal Communications and Engagement Team Leader to shape and deliver impactful communications that connect our people to our purpose, support organisational change and create a positive employee experience.

In This Role Your Main Responsibilities Will Include

  • Leading, developing and managing delivery of tactical communications plans in support of the internal communications and engagement programme.
  • Managing effective, audience-led communications tactics to land corporate messaging to affect behaviour change and awareness.
  • Supporting on the creation of significant / challenging / sensitive communications.
  • Promoting a culture of learning and continuous development by ensuring the team's training and development plan actively addresses skills gaps and training keeps pace with latest developments in internal communication and employee engagement.
  • Interpreting briefs, understanding audiences and objectives and provide direction to guide effective delivery against KPIs.
  • Attending and presenting at meetings within your areas of responsibility to represent the department. Present work to internal clients and take feedback.
  • Acting as a central point of contact for internal stakeholders and the team for tactical advice and ideas.
  • Be the champion for the internal corporate style and identity and ensure it is used appropriately throughout the organisation.
  • Managing an effective team who feel valued and respected by balancing wellbeing, development needs and delivering high quality outputs that meet organisational requirements.

Skills And Experience Required For The Role

  • You will hold a relevant degree or have an equivalent qualification from a professional body and relevant experience. (Proof of certificates will be required).
  • Experience of working in an internal communications position at a senior level in a large and complex organisation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience of writing for a range of audiences and channels.
  • Experience of working with senior leaders to devise and deliver creative communications.
  • Experience of leading a team of communication professionals and managing performance.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines.

Additional Information

  • You will hold a full driving licence or be prepared to travel around the force area using alternative transport to attend HQ and other police premises within the Avon and Somerset Force area when required.
  • This role benefits from blended working arrangements, providing the flexibility of both home and office working during the working days of Monday – Friday (9am – 5pm). Details will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate.
  • Following a shortlisting process, successful candidates will be invited to attend a face to face assessment and interview on week commencing 7th September.
