Location: Comfort House, Batley, with travel across HSL sites
Hours: Part-time | 22.5 hours per week | Flexible days/times
Salary: £30,000 FTE | £18,000 pro rata

We’re creating a brand-new Internal Communications & Engagement Officer role at HSL, giving you the opportunity to make it your own and play a key part in how our colleagues connect, communicate and celebrate success.
Reporting to our Head of People, you’ll help bring our internal communications and colleague engagement strategy to life, creating engaging content, memorable experiences and initiatives that help our people feel informed, valued and connected.

What you’ll be doing
You’ll take ownership of our internal communications activity, including:
- Creating clear, engaging communications from business updates and sometimes complex information
- Producing our company newsletter, sourcing stories and celebrating colleagues across HSL
- Managing our communications calendar to make sure the right messages reach people at the right time
- Supporting leaders and managers with important business communications
- Building a network of Communications Champions across HSL
- Celebrating colleague achievements and sharing great stories from across the business
- Supporting colleague engagement, wellbeing, charity and community initiatives
- Coordinating internal events and colleague experiences
- Managing HSL’s company LinkedIn activity
- Gathering colleague feedback and using it to continually improve our communications

Who we’re looking for
You’ll be a confident writer and natural relationship-builder who can manage multiple projects, priorities and stakeholders.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Experience in internal communications, communications, engagement or marketing
- Excellent writing skills and attention to detail
- The ability to turn complex information into simple, engaging messages
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Confidence communicating with people at all levels
- A proactive approach and ability to work independently
- Good Microsoft Office skills
- Experience with events, newsletters, intranets, digital communications or colleague engagement would be a bonus, as would experience working across multiple locations or using creative tools such as Canva.

A part-time role with real impact
This role is 22.5 hours per week, with flexibility around the days and times you work, while ensuring good coverage throughout the working week.
You’ll be primarily based at Comfort House in Batley, with opportunities to visit other HSL sites and attend company events when required.
