An overview of the role
Are you a creative communicator with a passion for storytelling, employee engagement and bringing business strategy to life? In this role, you’ll work closely with the Internal Communications Manager to deliver engaging, impactful communications that connect employees to Open GI's strategy, culture and values. You’ll play an important role in helping people across the business feel informed, engaged and connected.
Your key responsibilities
- Create clear and engaging communications across a range of channels and formats, ensuring messages are accurate and aligned to strategic priorities.
- Support the day-to-day management of internal communications channels and be the guardian of the intranet, collaborating with employees to ensure information is up to date, supporting content editors and regularly liaising with our external partner.
- Manage the internal content calendar, coordinating messages to ensure the best impact for stakeholders.
- Track communication performance and use employee feedback and data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business.
- Ensure communications reflect the culture and values of the business.
- Work with the Marketing/External communications team to ensure consistent messaging and employer branding.
- Support with preparations for leadership briefings and other group events.
- Deputise for the Internal Communications Manager as needed.
- Support on crisis communications.

What you'll need to succeed
Qualifications
- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade C or above (essential)
- Degree in communications, journalism, media, English or a related field (advantage)
Experience
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role
- Using a range of different communication platforms and tools such as SharePoint intranet, MS Teams, Viva Engage, Clipchamp and Canva
- Using Adobe InDesign
- Creating and editing content in a range of formats, including video
- Supporting on employee engagement activities
- Communicating with complex or dispersed workforces
Skills and Aptitudes
- Excellent English skills - strong written and verbal communication skills, with great attention to detail
- Highly organised, proactive and comfortable juggling priorities
- Strong content creation and storytelling skills
- Excellent IT and SharePoint skills
- Ability to deal with sensitive information in a confidential and professional manner
- Ability to tailor messaging to different audiences
- Confident working with a range of stakeholders at all levels
- Forward thinking and curious

Please note, this is a hybrid role requiring attendance at our Worcester offices for a minimum of 2x days per week.
