Europe & UK Internal Communications Lead
1 Year Contract
South East London – 2/ 3 days in the office, 2/ 3 days per week working from home
An Internal Communications Lead (Europe & UK) is required to work for a large Energy company based in South East London on a 1 year contract basis.
You will be advising senior leaders on strategy, engagement and transformation. Partner with regional and global communications team to advance shared priorities.
This is a unique opportunity to step into a high-impact communications role supporting our Europe & UK business during an important time of growth, transformation and connection.
Role Overview
As the Europe & UK Internal Communications Lead, you’ll serve as a trusted communications advisor to the operating unit leader and core leadership team (CLT) to advance business priorities through strategic communications, leadership engagement and organizational alignment.
Reporting to the Head of Operational Communications, you’ll counsel senior and executive leaders on communications strategies that support culture, delivery excellence, growth and business transformation — leading executive and leadership communications, driving employee engagement across the operating unit, and helping leaders connect business priorities to employee understanding and action.
Beyond operating unit priorities, you’ll own communications for regional initiatives affecting all Europe & UK employees, including organizational change, digital transformation, enterprise programs and crisis response. You’ll work closely with the Europe & UK Marketing & Communications team and with Operational Communications leads globally to advance shared priorities and enterprise-wide initiatives, making sure employees receive communications that are clear, timely and connected.

You’ll be joining a collaborative global communications team and working alongside a Communications Specialist to support leaders, strengthen employee engagement and help create a more connected employee experience across Europe & UK.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic communications & executive advisory
- Serve as a trusted communications advisor to the Europe & UK operating unit leader and CLT.
- Develop and execute communications strategies that help employees understand business priorities, organizational changes and their role in delivering results.
- As the Internal Communications Lead, you will build leadership visibility and stakeholder trust through executive updates, talking points, announcements and engagement plans.
- Anticipate communications risks and opportunities, recommending strategies that strengthen employee understanding and confidence.
- Lead regional crisis and sensitive-issue communications in partnership with HR, Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE), Enterprise Communications and business leaders.
Employee engagement
- Plan and deliver initiatives that strengthen culture and build employee engagement.
- Help employees across Europe & UK operating unit stay informed and connected, while ensuring colleague voice is heard, considered and reflected in decisions that affect them.
- Lead communications for initiatives affecting employees across Europe & UK, regardless of operating unit.
- Partner with HR, Talent Development, HSSE, Employee Networks and other key stakeholders to support employee-facing initiatives and programs.
- As the Internal Communications Lead, you will manage employee channels — newsletters, Connect (company intranet), town halls— ensuring content is clear, timely and impactful.
Stakeholder engagement & partnership
- Build strong relationships with business leaders, functional partners and communications colleagues.
- As the Internal Communications Lead, you will connect teams and priorities across a complex organization to support clear, coordinated communications.
- Represent Europe & UK needs and employee perspectives in broader communications planning.

Team leadership & development
- Provide coaching, feedback and development opportunities for the Communications Specialist.

Measurement & continuous improvement
- Set communication objectives and success measures for key initiatives.
- As the Internal Communications Lead, you will use employee feedback, engagement metrics and business outcomes to refine communications approaches.
- Share best practices and lessons learned across the communications team.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, business or a related field.
- Substantial internal or employee communications, ideally including internal, employee, executive or strategic communications leadership in large, complex, matrixed organizations.
- Experience advising senior leaders and providing clear, practical communications counsel.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to connect communications strategies to business outcomes.
- As the Internal Communications Lead, you will have experience supporting change, transformation or crisis communications in a large, complex organization.
- Strong writing, editing, storytelling and presentation development skills.
- A collaborative style, with the ability to build trust and get work done through influence and partnership.
- Curiosity and comfort using new technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to improve communications and ways of working.
