A well-known public sector organisation is seeking an experienced Internal Communications Manager to join the organisation on an initial 6-month contract.
This role will be offered at £350 per day umbrella with a hybrid working arrangement requiring attendance on site three days per week.
This is a high-profile opportunity to lead and deliver internal communications, employee engagement and change communication activity across a significant organisational transformation programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies that support change initiatives, enhance colleague engagement and ensure clear, consistent messaging across the organisation.
Working closely with senior leadership, programme teams and key stakeholders, you will play a critical role in helping employees understand, engage with and adopt transformational change, ensuring communications are aligned to organisational priorities and business objectives.
The Ideal Candidate
You will be an accomplished Internal Communications Manager with a proven track record of delivering strategic internal communications, employee engagement campaigns and change communication programmes within complex organisational environments.
You will have experience developing communication strategies, managing multiple stakeholder groups and creating engaging content across a variety of communication channels, ensuring key messages are understood and adopted by target audiences.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate tangible examples of supporting business transformation, organisational change or culture programmes through effective communication and stakeholder engagement activity.
You will be comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, providing trusted advice to senior leaders while maintaining responsibility for the delivery of high-quality communications, engagement initiatives and programme updates.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Lead the development and delivery of internal communications and employee engagement strategies in support of organisational transformation programmes.
- Create and implement communication plans that support business change and drive employee understanding and engagement.
- Develop compelling content for a range of channels including intranet platforms, newsletters, leadership briefings, presentations, videos and organisational updates.
- Partner with senior leaders to develop key messages and communication approaches that align with organisational priorities.
- Provide expert communications advice and guidance to programme teams and senior stakeholders.
- Manage and enhance internal communication channels to maximise effectiveness, reach and engagement.
- Support the delivery of change management activity through effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
- Develop communication materials that simplify complex information and make it accessible to diverse audiences.
- Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, feedback activity and communication campaigns.
- Build strong relationships across the organisation to identify communication opportunities, success stories and emerging issues.
- Monitor communication effectiveness and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Produce reports, presentations and briefing materials for leadership teams and governance forums.
- Support programme governance activities including meeting coordination, action tracking and stakeholder management.
- Ensure communications are timely, accurate, consistent and aligned to corporate standards.
- Identify communication risks and develop mitigation plans where required.
- Work collaboratively with HR, transformation and operational teams to support organisational priorities and people initiatives.
- Manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs within agreed timescales.
- Promote employee engagement and support a positive organisational culture during periods of change.

Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience in internal communications within large and complex organisations.
- Proven track record of delivering internal communications and change communication programmes.
- Demonstrable experience supporting organisational transformation, business change or cultural change initiatives.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
- Strong experience developing communication strategies, plans and employee engagement campaigns.
- Ability to influence, challenge and advise senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Experience creating engaging content across multiple communication channels.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.
- Experience managing communications in complex, fast-paced and politically sensitive environments.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess communication effectiveness and engagement outcomes.
- Ability to translate complex information into clear, concise and engaging communications.
- Experience working within the public sector or similarly complex regulated environments would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of organisational change, engagement and change management methodologies would be beneficial.
- Experience supporting programme governance, reporting and stakeholder engagement activity is desirable.
