Role Summary

Sophos is seeking an Internal Communications Manager to join our Global Internal Communications team – the function responsible for connecting employees with our strategy, culture, values, and business priorities through meaningful, engaging, and effective communications.

You will play a key role in shaping how employees experience Sophos by owning and delivering communications that inform, inspire, and connect our global workforce. Working closely with the Senior Director, Internal Communications & Employee Experience, you will partner with leaders and teams across the organization to translate business priorities into clear, compelling employee communications.

This role will support key areas of our employee communications ecosystem, including Sophos Life, internal campaigns, employee storytelling, editorial planning, leadership communications, and digital communication channels.

The successful candidate will combine excellent storytelling skills with strong stakeholder management, editorial judgment, project management capability, and a passion for improving the employee experience through modern communications approaches, data, and technology.

This is a hands-on role for someone who combines strategic thinking with strong delivery skills, advising stakeholders, creating high-quality content, managing campaigns, and continuously improving how Sophos communicates with employees.

This role reports to the Senior Director, Internal Communications & Employee Experience.

What You’ll Do

Employee Experience & Sophos Life

  • Support and evolve Sophos Life, our employee engagement and culture communications program, creating a consistent approach to employee storytelling, recognition, connection, and engagement across Sophos.
  • Develop employee storytelling initiatives that showcase employee achievements, team successes, volunteering, wellbeing, learning and development, inclusion and belonging, and culture moments.
  • Build a sustainable content pipeline by partnering with HR, Employee Resource Groups, regional teams, and business functions to identify stories and opportunities that strengthen employee engagement.
  • Create campaigns that bring Sophos’ values, culture, and employee experience to life.
  • Help employees better understand and connect with Sophos’ mission and priorities.

Internal Communications Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and deliver internal communications plans aligned with Sophos’ business priorities, employee needs, and organizational goals.
  • Own and maintain the internal communications editorial calendar, ensuring a consistent rhythm of relevant, timely, and engaging communications.
  • Partner with the Senior Director, Internal Communications & Employee Experience to shape communication strategies and ensure alignment across key business priorities.
  • Act as a trusted communications advisor to stakeholders, helping them define audiences, messaging, communication approaches, and delivery plans.
  • Identify opportunities to proactively communicate important business updates, employee initiatives, and organizational priorities.
  • Ensure communications are coordinated, consistent, and aligned across channels and audiences.

Leadership Communications & Executive Support

  • Partner with senior leaders to develop clear, authentic, and engaging communications that connect employees with business priorities, strategy, and organizational updates.
  • Support leaders with communication planning, messaging, audience considerations, and channel recommendations.
  • Draft and edit leadership communications including announcements, emails, blogs, talking points, FAQs, presentations, and other employee-facing materials.
  • Help leaders communicate consistently and effectively with employees across different regions and audiences.
  • Provide guidance on communication approach, tone, timing, and delivery.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen leadership visibility and employee connection through effective storytelling and communication.

Strategic & Change Communications

  • Partner with business leaders, HR, and project teams to support communications for organizational changes, strategic initiatives, and business priorities.
  • Develop change communication plans, messaging, FAQs, leader talking points, and employee-facing materials that help employees understand what is changing, why it matters, and what actions they need to take.
  • Translate complex business changes into clear, relevant, and engaging communications that support employee understanding and adoption.
  • Advise stakeholders on communication timing, audience needs, messaging, channels, and approaches to support successful change outcomes.
  • Support change readiness and adoption through targeted communications, engagement activities, and employee feedback loops.
  • Monitor communication effectiveness and employee feedback to identify opportunities to improve understanding and adoption.

Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Create high-quality communications across multiple channels, including intranet, email, newsletters, employee campaigns, video content, digital employee channels, and campaign materials.
  • Write and edit employee communications, leadership materials, announcements, blogs, FAQs, and other internal content.
  • Translate complex business topics into simple, engaging, and accessible communications.
  • Develop creative approaches to storytelling, including multimedia and digital content formats.
  • Maintain strong editorial standards, ensuring communications are accurate, engaging, and aligned with Sophos’ tone of voice.

Channel Management & Digital Employee Experience

  • Support the continuous improvement of internal communication channels, ensuring employees have access to relevant, engaging, and easy-to-find information.
  • Manage and evolve intranet content, campaigns, and employee communication experiences.
  • Maintain content quality, governance, and consistency across internal channels.
  • Use channel analytics and employee feedback to improve communication effectiveness, engagement, and the overall employee experience.
  • Partner with regional teams to ensure global communications are effectively adapted for local audiences.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the employee communication journey through better content, accessibility, channel choices, and digital experiences.

Employee Engagement & Campaigns

  • Create and deliver campaigns that support employee engagement, culture, and business priorities.
  • Support key People, HR, and organizational initiatives through effective communication strategies.
  • Develop communication approaches that help employees understand not only what is happening, but why it matters.
  • Partner with teams across Sophos to build awareness, connection, and participation.
  • Use storytelling and creative communication approaches to increase employee engagement.

Communications Analytics, AI & Innovation

  • Measure communication effectiveness using engagement metrics, channel analytics, and employee feedback.
  • Use data and insights to improve communications strategy, content, and channel performance.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline communication processes.
  • Use AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot and other emerging technologies to support research, planning, content creation, and productivity.
  • Apply strong editorial judgment when using AI, ensuring communications remain accurate, authentic, and aligned with Sophos’ voice.
  • Experiment with new communication formats, digital tools, and technologies to improve employee engagement.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in internal communications, employee experience, and AI-enabled ways of working.

What You Bring

  • Significant experience in internal communications, employee engagement, corporate communications, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering communications strategies within a complex organization.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to create compelling communications for different audiences.
  • Experience advising and partnering with senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
  • Experience managing communication campaigns, editorial calendars, and multiple priorities.
  • Strong understanding of employee experience, engagement principles, and internal communication best practices.
  • Experience managing digital communication channels such as intranets or employee platforms.
  • Experience using communication analytics and insights to measure impact and improve effectiveness.
  • Experience using AI tools to support communications, content creation, or productivity.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver high-quality work at pace.

  • Experience working within a global technology or cybersecurity organization.
