Who we are
We’re Railpen – one of the biggest pension firms in the UK. Our heritage of looking after the pension needs of the rail industry and its employees gives us our name and our unique outlook.
We’re for our 350,000 members, not shareholders, and we’re united in our purpose to secure their future. We’ve invested £36bn of their money for long term growth that positively impacts the communities and the world they will retire into, and we deliver Member First support in the moments that matter along the lifecycle of their pension.
The role

You'll:
- Develop and deliver the communication and engagement strategy for AI, supporting one of our most significant transformation programmes.
- Design and deliver engaging communication campaigns that build awareness, confidence and adoption of AI across the organisation.
- Work closely with programme leads, technology specialists and communications colleagues to create clear, consistent and aligned messaging.
- Translate complex technology, governance and process topics into clear, practical communications for different audiences.
- Develop communication plans that support different phases of change and adoption.
- Partner with project teams to implement communication and engagement activities during key programme milestones.
- Use insight, feedback and data to measure effectiveness, understand colleague perspectives and continually improve communication approaches.
- Provide trusted advice and strategic communications support to programme leaders and senior stakeholders.
- Work with the wider Communications Team to identify opportunities to connect stories, promote successes and ensure messaging remains aligned to our purpose, values and operating strategy.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
