Role and Facility Information
Surrey Memorial Hospital (SMH) Information
Surrey Memorial Hospital (SMH) is inviting applications for the position of a General Cardiologist. SMH is located in the Lower Mainland and is part of the Fraser Health Authority. It is the 2nd largest hospital in BC with nearly 800 beds, and has the busiest ER department in the country. Inpatient cardiology has a 9 bed CCU and an 18 bed telemetry ward, with plans for further expansion. Echocardiography and nuclear medicine studies are provided both at SMH and the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre. Cardiac catheterization is available at SMH and is currently Monday – Friday with daytime STEMI call with plans for expansion in the future. Outpatient clinics include Heart Function, Lipid, Pacemaker and Cardiac Rehabilitation clinics.
The Royal Columbian hospital nearby is the regional cardiac surgery centre. In early 2030s, with the addition of a second critical care tower at SMH, we will also have cardiac surgery on site.
Role Requirements
The successful 2 applicants will join the Cardiology Department that consists of 13.0 FTE general cardiologists (+ 3 interventionalists) and will participate in the cardiology on-call service, ward service, and electro-diagnostic interpretation (including echocardiography) as well as the supervision and teaching of medical trainees (medical students and residents).

Eligibility
- The applicant must have CMPA membership.
- Be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC.
- Hold a FRCP(C) or equivalent.
We are looking for the successful applicants to join the team as early as January 2027, but application will remain open until the right two individuals are found.

Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre is a brand new, state-of-the-art out-patient facility in Surrey, BC and provides ambulatory and surgical daycare services as well as many specialized clinics such as anticoagulation and chronic pain, breast health, chronic disease management for diabetes, cardiac and lung health with lab, medical and diagnostic imaging and pharmacy services.

Surrey Memorial Hospital is a 775 acute care bed, University of BC Affiliated, regional referral and community teaching hospital that has the busiest emergency in BC. We offer medical, surgical, neonatal intensive care, tertiary, ambulatory, cardiology, rehab, as well as 24/7 emergency services with 180,895 visits annually.
