3-month contract role with a local authority

Summary

This is a 3-month contract role with a local authority, focused on assessing learners undertaking childcare vocational programs. The primary purpose is to ensure that portfolios and assessment evidence meet the standards of awarding bodies and internal quality assurance. The role is crucial in supporting learners to achieve their qualifications within agreed timescales through high-quality assessment, guidance, and workplace support. The postholder will collaborate closely with learners, employers, and colleagues to enhance teaching, learning, and assessment practices across the Adult Learning Service.

Responsibilities

  • Assess learners undertaking childcare vocational qualifications using various assessment methods, including workplace observations, professional discussions, and portfolio reviews.
  • Ensure learner e-portfolios and/or paper-based portfolios comply with awarding body standards and internal quality assurance requirements.
  • Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback to support achievement within agreed timescales.
  • Identify and address barriers to learning, offering appropriate support and guidance or referring issues when necessary.
  • Encourage learner engagement, motivation, and achievement throughout their program.

Requirements:

Essential Experience

  • Experience working within the childcare sector.
  • Experience assessing or supporting learners within vocational education, training, or apprenticeships.
  • Experience conducting workplace observations and evaluating vocational competence.

Essential Qualifications

  • Relevant Childcare Qualification at Level 3 or above.
  • English qualification at Level 2 or above.
  • Maths qualification at Level 2 or above.

Additional Information

  • Working hours: 36 hours per week.
  • Enhanced DBS required.
  • Location: 97 Queens Road, London, Greater London, E17 8QR, United Kingdom.
  • Work schedule: Bi-weekly.
