Branch Sales Assistant

Permanent opportunity based in the Ystradgynlais, Swansea Area

About the Role

We're looking for a motivated and customer-focused Internal Sales Assistant to support the day-to-day success of a busy trade branch. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with sales or merchandising experience who enjoys building customer relationships, driving sales, and delivering exceptional service.

Working closely with the Branch Manager, you'll play a key role in growing sales, maintaining stock availability, and ensuring customers receive expert advice and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Branch Manager in achieving sales, margin and profitability targets.
  • Build strong relationships with new and existing customers, identifying opportunities to grow business.
  • Provide product advice, quotations and outstanding customer service.
  • Ensure stock levels are maintained, with core products readily available to meet demand.
  • Coordinate stock takes and ensure goods-in procedures are followed accurately.
  • Maintain an organised, safe and efficient branch environment.
  • Resolve customer and supplier queries promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor local market trends and competitor activity to maximise sales opportunities.
  • Assist with cash collection, debt control and overall branch performance.

About You

  • Experience in an internal sales, customer service or trade counter role, ideally within a builders' merchant, plumbing, heating, electrical or similar trade environment.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Commercially aware, with a proactive approach to sales.
  • Organised, reliable and able to prioritise a busy workload.
  • A team player who can also work independently and take ownership of tasks.
  • Passionate about delivering excellent customer service.

Hours

Average of 40.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 7:30am and 4:30pm, plus every other Saturday 8:00am to 12:00pm.
