Role Overview

The Internal Sales Support role is a varied position combining customer communication, lead qualification, sales coordination, business development support, and marketing assistance.

You will be responsible for handling inbound enquiries from the website, online chat, email, and marketing activities, helping to qualify opportunities and direct them to the appropriate sales engineer. You will work closely with the wider sales team, particularly on larger projects where you may also act as an additional customer contact point.

We are looking for a someone with a good technical background and a high level of enthusiasm for understanding technical applications and helping potential customers to find the right measurement solutions for their engineering challenges.

The role will also involve supporting exhibitions, events, social media activity, and helping identify new business opportunities through LinkedIn and other online tools.

  • Manage and respond to inbound enquiries from:
    • Website forms
    • Online chat
    • Email enquiries
    • Marketing campaigns and events
  • Qualify incoming leads and direct them to the appropriate sales engineer
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, opportunities, and follow-up actions within CRM system
  • Support sales engineers on larger customer projects by:
    • Acting as an additional customer contact point
    • Liaising with technical support
    • Assisting with project administration
  • Assist with outbound lead generation and customer follow-up activities

Business Development

  • Use LinkedIn and other online tools to:
    • Identify potential customers
    • Research target industries and applications
    • Discover new market opportunities
    • Build connections with prospective customers
  • Occasionally attend customer visits, demonstrations, exhibitions, and events independently or alongside sales engineers

Marketing & Events Support

  • Help organise and support exhibitions, and other events
  • Assist with event logistics including registrations, customer communication, stand preparation, and follow-up activity
  • Contribute ideas for marketing campaigns, social media posts and customer case studies
  • Support Dewesoft UK’s online presence across platforms such as LinkedIn

Skills & Experience

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree (BSc, BEng, or equivalent) in:
    • Electronics Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Mechatronics Engineering
    • Automotive Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Physics
    • Or a similar technical/engineering discipline
  • A few years of engineering or technical industry experience, ideally including experience within a graduate scheme.

Essential

  • Interest in engineering, technology, or test & measurement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable communicating with customers and qualifying opportunities
  • Self-motivated and proactive approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a technical sales environment
  • Confident using LinkedIn and digital communication tools
  • Interest in marketing, customer engagement, and business development
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Access to a vehicle for occasional customer visits and events

Desirable

  • Experience in internal sales, customer support and business development
  • Knowledge in data acquisition systems, test and measurement and data analysis
  • Experience using CRM systems
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn Sales Navigator or similar prospecting tools
  • Experience supporting exhibitions, events, or social media activity
  • Experience creating marketing or video content

Location

Based mainly in the office in Ampthill, Bedfordshire, with occasional customer visits, and exhibitions/events throughout the UK.
