Internal Sales Engineer
We are seeking an Internal Sales Engineer with strong electrical engineering knowledge to provide technical solutions and build lasting customer relationships.
Position: Internal Sales Engineer
Salary: £35,000 – £38,000 per annum
Location: Leicester
Hours: Full time, permanent – 37.75 hours per week

About the role
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded Internal Sales Engineer to join an established engineering and manufacturing business, working within its Medium Voltage team.
As a key member of the sales team, you will be a front-line contact for customers, managing technical enquiries, understanding requirements and identifying appropriate engineering solutions. You will produce preliminary designs, cost solutions and prepare accurate quotations and tenders, helping to secure profitable orders.

Key responsibilities include:
- Managing customer enquiries by telephone, email and face-to-face
- Interpreting technical requirements and developing suitable costed solutions
- Preparing detailed quotations and tenders and following these through to order
- Providing pre-sales technical expertise and product information
- Processing orders and liaising with Engineering, Contracts and Production teams
- Keeping customers informed throughout the order process and resolving issues
- Maintaining accurate records of enquiries, quotations, orders and customer activity
- Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities
- Building strong relationships with existing and prospective customers
- Undertaking occasional UK and international customer/site visits.
About you
You will have a good understanding of electrical engineering, ideally supported by an HNC in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering or an equivalent apprenticeship.
You will also bring previous experience in a technical, customer-facing environment, alongside excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You should be confident interpreting technical data and explaining solutions clearly to customers and colleagues.

You will be self-motivated, organised and accurate, with strong IT skills. A relevant degree, experience working with large OEMs, contractors or international customers, or knowledge of high-power/high-voltage applications would be advantageous.
About the organisation
You will be joining an established specialist engineering and manufacturing organisation supplying high-power electrical solutions across the UK and international markets.
Its products are used across electricity generation, transmission and distribution, industrial automation, marine, telecommunications and rail, with customers including major contractors, OEMs and end users.
