Internal Sales Executive - Life Sciences
Birmingham | £28,000-£30,000 + 25%
Are you a Life Sciences graduate with a commercial mindset and looking to build a career in scientific sales?
Perhaps you already have some sales or customer-facing experience, or you know that your personality and strengths lie in talking to people, building relationships and spotting opportunities rather than working in the lab.
We're working with a well-established and growing scientific business specialising in laboratory equipment and consumables. They're looking for an ambitious Internal Sales Executive to join their Birmingham team.
This is a brilliant opportunity to develop your commercial skills, learn from an experienced sales team and build a long-term career within the scientific sector.
What You'll Be Doing
- Manage and grow your own portfolio of existing life science customers
- Proactively speak with customers to understand their requirements and identify opportunities
- Develop existing accounts through cross-selling, repeat business and increased engagement
- Reconnect with lapsed customers and build those relationships
- Research and approach prospective customers to generate new business
- Qualify inbound and outbound leads and identify the best next step
- Arrange qualified appointments for the field sales team
- Prepare and follow up quotations
- Use customer and sales data to spot commercial opportunities
- Keep CRM records and pipeline activity up to date
- Work closely with Field Sales, Product Specialists, Marketing and Customer Service

What We're Looking For
- A degree in a Life Sciences discipline - essential
- Confident and comfortable speaking with customers on the telephone
- Proactive, enthusiastic and commercially minded
- Naturally curious, with the confidence to ask good questions and build relationships
- Ambitious and motivated by achieving results
- Organised and comfortable managing multiple customers and opportunities
- Positive, coachable and keen to learn
- Previous sales, telesales or customer-facing experience would be advantageous, but isn't essential
- Experience within laboratories, academia, biotech or another life science environment would also be beneficial

What's On Offer
- £28,000-£30,000 basic salary
- 25% OTE
- Office-based role in Birmingham
