Role & Impact
As part of our continued growth, we’re looking for an Internal Sales Manager to join our team at our Neale Road site in Doncaster (DN2).
This is a key leadership role, responsible for leading and developing our Desk Based Account Managers (DBAMs), helping them build strong customer relationships, deliver an excellent customer experience and identify new opportunities for growth.
You’ll play an important role in shaping how we engage with our customers, using coaching, CRM insights and commercial expertise to create a proactive and effective approach to customer management. You’ll also work closely with senior customers and internal teams to support strategic accounts and deliver sustainable sales growth.

What the role involves

Leading and developing the team
- Lead, coach and motivate a team of Desk Based Account Managers (DBAMs).
- Set clear expectations and KPIs, supporting the team to achieve sales, retention and customer engagement targets.
- Provide regular coaching, feedback and development to build capability and performance.
- Share best practice and support the development of future talent.

Build strong customer relationships
- Lead a proactive approach to customer contact, ensuring customers receive regular and valuable engagement.
- Strengthen customer retention by identifying risks, opportunities and changing customer needs.
- Support customer reviews and key meetings where required.
- Develop the DBAM team as trusted and responsive points of contact for customers.

Drive sales and growth
- Identify and develop new sales opportunities through proactive customer contact and prospecting.
- Improve conversion through effective opportunity management and follow-up.
- Work closely with Field Sales and Key Account teams to grow customer relationships and maximise opportunities.
- Use customer campaigns and insight to create a consistent approach to account growth.

Use CRM and insight to improve performance
- Drive effective use of CRM across the DBAM team, ensuring accurate and up-to-date customer information.
- Use CRM data and customer insight to identify trends, opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Ensure consistent standards for customer records, activity and reporting.

Support the wider commercial strategy
- Work as part of the Sales Leadership Team to support the wider sales and customer engagement strategy.
- Translate commercial priorities into clear actions for the DBAM team.
- Share customer insight and performance updates with senior leaders.
- Support the delivery of wider commercial initiatives and marketing campaigns.
What we are looking for
- An experienced people leader with a passion for coaching, development and high performance.
- Commercially focused, with a strong track record of driving sales growth and customer retention.
- A confident communicator who can build relationships with customers, colleagues and senior stakeholders.
- Highly organised, proactive and comfortable managing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable using CRM, data and insight to improve performance and identify opportunities.
- Resilient, results-focused and committed to continuous improvement.

Experience and skills
- Experience leading an internal sales, account management or customer-facing team.
- Strong leadership, coaching and performance management skills.
- Experience driving sales growth through proactive account management and customer engagement.
- Good understanding of CRM systems and using data to support commercial decisions.
- Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills.
- The confidence to work effectively with both frontline teams and senior stakeholders.
- Experience in construction, building products, merchanting or a similar B2B environment would be an advantage.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, CRM and sales reporting tools.
