Are you our next Internal Sales Manager?

We’re looking for an experienced and driven Internal Sales Manager to lead our Internal Northampton Sales team and play a key role in driving sales performance, developing our people and ensuring we continue to deliver an exceptional service to our customers.

As our Internal Sales Manager, you’ll oversee the day-to-day running of the Internal Sales department, supporting and coaching your team to achieve their goals and maximise every sales opportunity. You’ll work closely with our Commercial Director and Sales Managers to ensure accounts and workloads are effectively managed, sales opportunities are maximised and the team is performing at its best.

As the sole manager based at our Northampton office, you’ll also act as the main point of contact for general day-to-day office and building matters, helping to ensure the site remains a professional, well-organised and welcoming place to work.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading and overseeing the day-to-day running of the Internal Sales department.
  • Coaching, motivating and supporting the Internal Sales team to achieve individual and departmental goals.
  • Monitoring daily sales performance against budgets and targets and keeping the team informed of progress.
  • Ensuring all quotations are actively followed up and opportunities are maximised.
  • Encouraging the team to identify and develop new sales opportunities, including within key vertical markets.
  • Ensuring workloads and customer accounts are distributed fairly and effectively across the team.
  • Acting as a key link between the Internal Sales team and the Commercial Director.
  • Working closely with Sales Managers and the Commercial Director to review account allocation and sales opportunities.
  • Attending regular meetings to discuss sales performance, customer accounts and business opportunities.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers and supporting the resolution of customer queries and complaints.
  • Producing regular sales reports, statistics and analysis for management meetings and ad hoc business requirements.
  • Monitoring team performance and providing regular feedback, coaching and support.
  • Managing staffing levels and workloads to meet the day-to-day operational requirements of the department.
  • Supporting the recruitment, induction and training of new team members.
  • Identifying learning and development opportunities to support the ongoing growth of the team.
  • Ensuring accurate and up-to-date records are maintained within Microsoft Dynamics and other relevant systems.
  • Acting as the main on-site point of contact for general office and building queries.
  • Liaising with the relevant internal teams, suppliers, contractors, landlords or building management providers regarding general office and building matters.
  • Identifying and escalating significant site, maintenance or operational issues to the appropriate person.
  • Any other tasks commensurate with the post.

What you’ll have

  • Substantial experience working within an Internal Sales or similar sales environment.
  • Previous experience leading, supervising or managing a team.
  • Experience of coaching and developing others.
  • Experience of monitoring sales performance against targets and budgets.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Dynamics or a similar CRM/ERP system.
  • Strong people and performance management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to motivate and lead a team by example.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of producing reports and analysing sales or business information.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to deal with customer queries and complaints professionally.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A collaborative approach to working with colleagues across the business.
  • A self-motivated, proactive and positive attitude.

It would be great if you also have

  • Formal sales training and/or a relevant sales qualification.
  • Experience within the security, technology, distribution or related industry.
  • Previous experience managing a sales team.
  • Experience of working with CRM systems and analysing sales data.
