Internal Sales Representative

Are you a driven sales professional who enjoys building relationships, generating new business, and delivering outstanding customer service? Heidelberg Materials is looking for an ambitious Internal Sales Representative to join our commercial team and play a key role in growing our customer base and developing long-term partnerships.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced sales environment where you'll proactively identify opportunities, engage with customers, generate new business, and contribute directly to revenue growth. You'll become a trusted partner to customers while helping to deliver solutions that add real value to their businesses.

What You'll Be Doing

As an Internal Sales Representative, you will take ownership of a portfolio of prospective and existing customers within a designated region, driving growth through proactive sales activity and relationship management.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Generating new business opportunities through outbound sales calls.
  • Managing and developing existing customer accounts to maximise revenue and sales volume.
  • Building and maintaining a strong sales pipeline through structured sales activity.
  • Identifying and qualifying new prospects using a variety of lead generation techniques.
  • Promoting Heidelberg Materials products, services, and value proposition.
  • Delivering an exceptional customer experience at every stage of the sales cycle.
  • Identifying opportunities to provide value-added products and services.
  • Working collaboratively with internal teams to ensure customer needs are met.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Generate new customers through proactive outbound calling activities.
  • Follow up all leads within agreed timeframes to maximise conversion opportunities.
  • Develop direct-to-site business opportunities across both bulk and packed products.
  • Build and manage a robust sales pipeline to support sustainable business growth.
  • Generate referral opportunities through existing customer relationships.
  • Conduct professional telephone presentations and sales campaigns.
  • Identify and convert strategic market opportunities.
  • Meet and exceed revenue, volume, and activity targets.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Deliver outstanding service to both prospective and existing customers.
  • Build strong relationships with decision-makers and key stakeholders.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by understanding customer needs and recommending appropriate solutions.
  • Identify opportunities that add value to customer operations and support their success.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

Sales Operations & Market Intelligence

  • Maintain accurate customer records within CRM and sales systems.
  • Monitor KPIs, customer performance, volume trends, and rebate agreements.
  • Conduct market analysis and gather industry intelligence to identify growth opportunities.
  • Support product launches, promotions, and commercial initiatives.
  • Provide timely feedback and recommendations to management and wider commercial teams.
  • Support supply chain operations for key customers where required.

Team & Business Support

  • Work closely with sales teams to share market insights and account developments.
  • Prepare presentations and reports for internal and external meetings.
  • Attend customer meetings, events, and industry activities.
  • Support Commercial Directors and wider business functions as required.
  • Promote company values, compliance standards, and best practice at all times.

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, and build credibility with customers.
  • Experience using CRM systems and business software.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous sales, account management, or business development experience.
  • Experience working within a large corporate or commercial environment.
  • Knowledge of SAP and CRM platforms.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales or performance targets.
  • Experience within construction materials, manufacturing, distribution, or related industries.
