We’re looking for a practical, customer-focused colleague to join the team as an Internal Sales / Yard Operative at The Landscape Centre.
The Role
This varied role combines internal sales and customer service with hands-on yard duties. You’ll help customers find the right landscaping products, process orders, and support the smooth day-to-day running of the yard.
You’ll work closely with customers and colleagues, keeping products organized and ready for collection while helping to deliver a friendly, efficient service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Serving customers in person and by telephone, providing helpful product information and advice
- Understanding customer requirements and recommending suitable landscaping products
- Preparing quotations, processing sales orders, and handling payments accurately
- Checking product availability, prices, and collection or delivery requirements
- Building positive relationships with trade and retail customers
- Supporting customers with product collections and loading purchases safely
- Receiving, moving, and organizing stock around the yard
- Keeping the yard and product displays tidy, accessible, and well presented
- Assisting with stock checks and reporting shortages, damage, or discrepancies
- Working with colleagues to prepare orders and coordinate customer collections
- Handling customer queries and resolving issues promptly and professionally
- Following company procedures for health and safety, manual handling, and customer service

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is approachable, reliable, and comfortable balancing customer service with practical outdoor work. You’ll enjoy working as part of a team and take care to work safely and accurately.
You’ll need:
- Experience in sales, customer service, a yard or warehouse, or a similar practical role
- Experience in a builders’ merchant, garden centre, landscaping, or construction environment is essential
- An interest in landscaping products and the confidence to learn about the range
- Good communication skills and a friendly, professional approach to customers
- Good numeracy and attention to detail when processing orders and payments
- The ability to work outdoors and carry out hands-on duties, including moving and handling products safely
- A positive, flexible approach and the ability to manage changing priorities
- The ability to work effectively as part of a busy team
- A strong commitment to health and safety
- Forklift experience or a current forklift license would be an advantage

Working Hours, Salary & Benefits
- Working hours: Monday–Friday between 07:00–17:00, plus 1 in 2 Saturdays from 08:00–12:00
- Salary: Competitive, dependant on experience
- Holiday: 25 days’ holiday plus UK Bank Holidays and an additional celebration day
