We are looking for an Internal Underwriter to join our Central Underwriting Unit focusing on personal lines motor to compliment our existing team. As an Internal Underwriter, you will be responsible for responding to Group enquiries with bespoke schemes and niche placement, ensuring we always deliver excellent service. A home-based role requiring occasional visits to Howden Retail branches to promote the department and scheme facilities. About you:
- You are currently working within the personal lines motor environment with good knowledge of risk profiling, scheme usage/management and insurer engagement keen to progress your underwriting experience. You will be responsible for underwriting within the confines of various delegated authority/bespoke schemes and where appropriate undertaking presentation and negotiations with key insurer partners as required.
- You have excellent attention to detail and decision-making skills - as you will be responsible for gathering and analysing risk presentations from Group, making underwriting judgements based on the information available.
- You will communicate effectively and be able to take a variety of risk profiles and translate it into an understandable action, providing technical assistance and advice to colleagues.
- You will have a passion for delivering an excellent outcome for our clients, via the service provided to branches and colleagues within Group, whilst maintaining clear focus on scheme performance and profitability for our key insurer partners in line with compliance and regulatory requirements.
- You will be highly organised, enjoy using your initiative and be able to manage your time effectively, as you will be planning your own workload to meet business priorities and timescales.
