About the Role
As International Collaboration Manager, you’ll lead Make UK Defence’s expansion into international markets and our work more broadly to be the UK’s leading champion for the defence SME and supply chain community.
Your work will target a range of key stakeholders crucial to our expansion into new markets, such as foreign embassies, overseas trade bodies and vital UK Government enablers for international collaboration and exports. You will seek out new opportunities for winning business for UK companies globally, via foreign trade shows and partnership initiatives, and support the delivery of UK exports at a crucial time for the global defence industry as many countries push for rearmament.
You’ll also be a key representative for Make UK Defence, interacting with the UK Government and wider stakeholders on international collaboration and export issues.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead Make UK Defence’s international expansion strategy through engagement with key stakeholders in the UK Government, foreign embassies, multinational organisations and partner sector bodies.
- Support the Senior Policy and Communications Manager to build and maintain strong relationships related to international collaboration and exports within UK Government and multinational bodies such as NATO.
- Be a thought leader in the UK defence industry for international collaboration and exports, and support the Senior Policy and Communications Manager to develop high-quality policy proposals related to this area via policy papers and published reports.
- Work closely with the UK Membership Growth Director and Events Team to deliver new business opportunities for Make UK Defence internationally by expanding our export advisory services, presence at overseas trade shows, and delivering virtual events with foreign companies for existing UK members.
- Support the Membership Team to provide advice to our members on how to export their goods and services, and how to collaborate with international partners.
- Work collaboratively across Make UK Defence and the wider Make UK organisation to advertise new international business opportunities to our members and track the progress of these initiatives.

About You
Essential experience and skills
- Substantial experience working in a global business environment, foreign diplomacy or directly on international collaboration and exports within government.
- A strong background in delivering new business opportunities and driving revenue within an organisation.
- A self-starter who can work independently, seek out opportunities and communicate confidently with people from diverse backgrounds.
- A clear passion for delivering reform and change within institutions and governments.
- Willingness to travel internationally to support the delivery of the organisation’s expansion into new markets.
Desirable
- Experience working on international collaboration and export initiatives either within a global company, a government organisation or within a multinational institution.
- Experience in delivering policy reform within governmental institutions.
- Strong knowledge of the defence sector, along with an awareness of both the challenges and opportunities facing UK defence companies globally.
