Purpose Of the Role:
Ready to jump into a dynamic role where no two days are the same? As an apprentice, you’ll coordinate the movement of goods around the world, work with overseas partners, and ensure shipments arrive on time. You’ll be at the heart of the action—handling paperwork, customs, and customer relationships, gaining real-world skills from day one.
Responsibilities
- Support the planning and coordination of international import and export shipments across air, sea, and road freight services.
- Prepare and process shipping documentation accurately, including customs paperwork, transport documents, and delivery instructions.
- Assist with customs clearance activities, ensuring all consignments comply with UK and international regulations.
- Track shipments, monitor progress, and proactively communicate updates to customers, suppliers, and overseas partners.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, carriers, and DACHSER's global network.
- Resolve shipment queries and help find solutions to any transport or customs-related issues.
- Ensure data is accurately entered and maintained within internal systems.
- Learn all aspects of freight forwarding operations while working towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A genuine interest in logistics, international trade, and supply chain operations.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with confidence when dealing with customers and colleagues.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team while also taking ownership of individual tasks.
- Basic IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- A positive, professional approach and a desire to build a long-term career within the logistics industry.
