How you will create an impact
This position is responsible for managing the overall fraud and recovery program across AIG’s International business. The position requires proven leadership skills in managing a team of regional managers across 5 regions: APAC and China, Europe Middle East Africa, UK, Latin America and Japan.
The scope of the fraud role supports AIG to reduce the potential economic loss to the business through the identification and investigation of suspicious insurance claims or suspicious insurance related activities covering all lines of business.
The scope of the recovery role supports AIG’s strategy of maximizing recovery opportunity whilst minimizing recovery expenses, ensuring that there is consistency with the way recovery activity is enabled, tracked, monitored and reported.
Critical to the success of this position is the ability to engage, lead and inspire a team of fraud, recovery and salvage professionals to continue to deliver high quality results while creating the fraud and recovery capability of the future. This will involve leveraging new technology and skills and developing new and innovative techniques to help support and achieve AIG GI Claims goals, whilst at the same time developing and nurturing an organizational culture aligned to AIG’s defined purpose and values.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the execution of the GI Claims Fraud and Recovery strategy, including deployment of global fraud and recovery technology initiatives, portfolio analytics, TPA governance, vendor management, shared services engagement and expense management.
- Create and implement strategies to maximise recovery value and mitigate fraud risk aligned to the Global Fraud and Recovery Key Performance Indicators.
- Proven ability to build strong networks with claims, underwriting and external stakeholders and have a proven track record of delivering outstanding results.
- Support the advancement of the fraud and recovery reporting and portfolio analytics capability to enable timely reporting and to produce valuable insights to key stakeholders.
- Drive strong data citizenship on critical data fields within fraud and recovery related tools and systems to develop accuracy of the Key Performance Indicators.
- Support and engage in identified data, digital and Gen AI strategies through targeted engagement and knowledge sharing to ensure fraud and recovery capabilities have been incorporated.
- Proactively drive an effective communication and engagement process with key stakeholders regarding the fraud and recovery value proposition, results, recommendations and internal/ external trends.
- Work with claims and underwriting teams to understand where fraud exposure exists and where recovery opportunity is available.
- Collaborate on new growth setups (e.g. TPA/ MGAs), new product designs and customer initiatives through assessing the impact on recovery and inherent fraud risk and ensuring the right operating model is in place.
- Assess the performance of the international fraud and recovery vendor panel, ensuring vendor performance is of the highest quality, delivering value with appropriate expense discipline.
- Manage the implementation and monitor the effectiveness of the international fraud and recovery training and awareness campaigns for Claims and Underwriting.
- Plan, manage and evaluate work of staff; make decisions regarding pay, performance management, development, employment and staffing requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all country laws and regulations regarding fraud and recovery best practices, guidelines, reporting and submissions and data privacy requirements.
- Function as the AIG liaison and point of contact for Global Fraud Industry associations and regional/country regulators, law enforcement etc. where required.
- Manage expenses within established and approved budget guidelines.

What you’ll need to succeed
- Extensive knowledge of claims, insurance markets, fraud and recovery legislation and handling processes, along with other relevant data/ compliance legislation.
- Connectivity with relevant fraud and recovery industry associations, with demonstrable credibility.
- Ability to leverage technology and analytics to achieve goals including experience in the implementation of AI and Machine learning to assess trends and identify opportunities to drive improved results.
- Able to lead complex change initiatives with an ability to work to tight timelines when necessary.
- Experience and confidence to lead a large, diverse team and engage a geographically dispersed group of stakeholders.
- Comfortable working across differing time zones to support engagement of regional fraud and recovery teams and to actively contribute to the global leadership team.
- Able to take ownership of their area of responsibility and work with others to win together in both virtual and in person environments, helping to develop and nurture a high-performance culture.
- Excellent communication skills with a strong collaborative mindset to influence stakeholders internally within Fraud and Recovery and other key stakeholders (International/Regional/ LOB claims stakeholders, Underwriters, Actuaries, Risk Compliance, Legal, Vendors, Customers etc).
