International Payroll Manager | Multi-Country Payroll | UK & Europe

Handle are partnering with a leading international retail and lifestyle brand to recruit an experienced International Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations across the UK, Europe and selected international markets.

This is a key leadership role, reporting to the Director of Accounting, with responsibility for ensuring accurate, timely and compliant payroll across 14 countries, with scope to expand as the business grows.

The opportunity:

  • Lead end-to-end international payroll operations.
  • Manage and develop a team of payroll professionals.
  • Oversee outsourced payroll providers, service delivery and compliance.
  • Own payroll reconciliations, month-end and year-end close, and audit requirements.
  • Partner closely with HR, Finance and global stakeholders.
  • Drive automation, process improvement, controls and support international expansion.

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience leading payroll across multiple countries, ideally within retail, consumer goods or a multinational business.
  • Strong knowledge of UK and European payroll legislation, employment taxes, pensions and statutory reporting.
  • Experience managing third-party payroll providers and HR/payroll systems.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and analytical skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills; CIPP qualification desirable.
