An International Tax Director is required for a 12-month contract to support a listed, international group undergoing a significant merger.
We are looking for a senior international tax professional to join the existing team and provide hands-on support across restructuring, legal entity reduction and wider M&A activity. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at Director/Senior Manager level, working autonomously and driving actions through to completion.
The role is available ASAP.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of pre-merger restructuring and financial restructuring, ensuring the group is able to meet external dividend commitments.
- Define and lead legal entity reduction plans, including sourcing, developing and documenting the required technical tax analysis.
- Review balance sheets and group structures to identify tax inefficiencies and opportunities for simplification, including undertaking dividends and other restructuring steps as required.
- Review existing tax processes and controls, working with relevant teams to ensure these are appropriately updated ahead of the merger.
- Support the preparation of Day 1 tax materials and documentation for the merger.
- Lead the tax workstream on other M&A initiatives, including drafting step plans, reviewing technical positions and supporting implementation.
- Support tax risk reviews, technical analysis and documentation as required.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and wider project teams to ensure agreed actions are clearly owned, progressed and completed.
- Take a hands-on, delivery-focused approach, proactively identifying issues, chasing actions and ensuring key tax deliverables remain on track.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
