Internship Position: Quantum Error Correction (QEC) Team
Quantinuum is opening an internship position for the Quantum Error Correction (QEC) team in the United Kingdom. If selected, you will work on an active project that contributes towards the architectural design, analysis, and implementation of our QEC stack. The project will be related to one of the following: algebraic geometry, tensor network / ZX calculus, QEC code automorphisms, accelerate the classical simulation of non-Clifford fault-tolerant (FT) QEC gadgets, design of compact FT magic state preparation gadgets, development of partially-FT techniques to reduce noise on large-scale quantum algorithms, or demonstrate small-scale fully-FT quantum algorithms in Quantinuum’s trapped-ion hardware.
Based in the London-Victoria or Cambridge offices, you will be working in a research-focused group with scientific direction from experienced QEC researchers, with a close connection to hardware and software engineers. You will work towards a scientific publication and/or software libraries. This is an excellent opportunity to advance the theory and practice of quantum computing while building your professional and academic career.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
