Job Title: Assistant Communication & Interpretation Specialist

Location: Hybrid - Liverpool travel

Rate: £14-£18p/h - 12 month contract

We're working with one of the world's leading entertainment and technology brands to find a bilingual Assistant Communication & Interpretation Specialist to join their global team on a 12-month contract.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone fluent in Japanese and English who enjoys working in an international environment, supporting teams across software and technology development. You'll play a key role in helping colleagues communicate effectively across languages, providing translation and interpretation support for a wide range of business activities.

The role is predominantly remote, with occasional visits to the Liverpool office when required.

What you'll be doing

You'll provide high-quality English to Japanese (and vice versa) translation and interpretation services across a variety of internal projects and business functions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing consecutive interpretation during project meetings, workshops, 1:1s and team discussions
  • Translating a wide range of business communications including emails, documents, presentations, chat messages, subtitles, support tickets and internal announcements
  • Supporting internal events through live voice-over interpretation where required
  • Using CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools to deliver accurate and consistent translations
  • Maintaining translation memories and terminology databases to improve quality and efficiency
  • Reviewing and post-editing translated content
  • Working closely with colleagues across different regions to ensure translation requests are prioritised, completed on time and handed over effectively between global teams
  • Updating translation requests, managing workloads and communicating progress with stakeholders
  • Participating in regular team meetings and contributing ideas to improve processes and ways of working

What we're looking for

  • Fluent written and spoken English and Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent Japanese fluency and a high standard of English)
  • Previous professional experience translating between English and Japanese in a commercial environment
  • Confident providing consecutive interpretation for meetings and discussions
  • Excellent written communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Organised, proactive and comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • A collaborative approach with excellent relationship-building skills
  • Someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced international environment and is keen to continuously improve processes
