Job Description: Fire Protection and Insulation Specialist
To develop innovative and effective products and solutions for the Fire Protection and Insulation portfolio. Be accountable for the planning and execution of projects and the resolution of technical challenges of minimal to moderate complexity. Operate independently while supporting wider business objectives and acting as a technical resource within the organisation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establishes own timelines with minimal or no changes required.
- Acts as a technical resource within their area of responsibility.
- Has a broad awareness of the business, product portfolio and customer requirements.
- Plans, designs and executes projects independently.
- Leads small to moderately challenging projects or significant aspects of technically challenging projects.
- Performs technically based investigations and effectively resolves issues using background research, technical expertise and prior experience.
- Analyses data, recognises anomalies and determines appropriate actions with minimal supervision.
- Maintains accurate project documentation, records and reports.
- Communicates project progress, risks and recommendations effectively to stakeholders.
- Collaborates with Operations, Procurement, Marketing, Technical Service and Certification teams to achieve project objectives.
- Supports product certification activities, external testing programmes and customer technical support activities.
- Demonstrates a personal commitment to the team through mentoring, coaching and supporting colleagues.
- Builds and utilises networks both inside and outside the department to drive project success.
- Works with and influences resources outside of the immediate group to achieve business objectives.
- Maintains safe working practices and ensures compliance with all company HSE requirements.
- Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and contributes to technical innovation across the portfolio.

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications / Experience
- BSc Chemistry or equivalent STEM qualification.
- MSc, MChem or PhD desirable but not essential.
- Experience within coatings, chemicals, materials science or product development environments.
- Demonstrated experience of independently managing technical projects.
- Proven ability to analyse technical data and make sound recommendations.
- Experience working with customers, suppliers or external testing organisations desirable.
- High level of coatings knowledge preferred.
- Passive Fire Protection or Intumescent Coatings experience highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Strong formulation and problem-solving capability.
- Sound understanding of experimental design and data interpretation.
- Ability to conduct technical investigations and recommend solutions.
- Effective project planning and organisational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
