We are looking for a highly motivated and customer-focused Inventory Controller to be based at our SDC site in Northampton (NN7 2FR). As an Inventory Controller you will support and improve the Yusen operation for our customer. Assisting with stock integrity within the contract, ensuring all stocks are accounted for and KPI’s are met.

The shift pattern for this role is Monday – Friday, 6:00 – 14:00 and we offer a salary of £32,142.36 per annum.

The role:

  • Ensure all required perpetual cycle counting activities are carried out to the required standard
  • Ensure all discrepancies are investigated and reconciled in accordance with established procedures, highlighting any areas of concern in a timely manner
  • Assist with formal stock takes on behalf of the contract in accordance with procedures
  • Conduct accurate pallet checks
  • Investigate customer queries, resolving them within a reasonable period to customer satisfaction levels
  • Set up and continual maintenance of all stock files
  • Set up of warehouse locations
  • Assist on the relocation of designated areas within the warehouse
  • Adhere to deadlines, or escalate issue to Line Management where these cannot be met
  • Adhere to Company procedures & policy
  • Ensure all stock related KPI’s are met
  • Ensure all weekly and monthly reports are completed accurately and to deadlines (cycle counts, stock discrepancies)
  • Continuously look to improve processes and procedures to drive efficiency and improvement in business operation and customer service
  • Develop other logistics revenue opportunities with the customer
  • Closely analyse, promote, and identify areas for improvement within Yusen’s quality management system
  • Ensure all health and safety procedures are adhered to, including PPE, taking appropriate action where procedures are not being adhered to or could be improved
  • Ensure all equipment checks are carried out in accordance with procedure, taking appropriate action to ensure a safe working environment for all employees
  • Maintain and update site Risk Assessments, Safe, System of Work and working instructions

Requirements:

  • Previous inventory/stock control experience (essential)
  • Knowledge of inventory / warehouse operations (essential)
  • Knowledge / operational experience of WMS (Manhattan Active highly desirable)
  • Awareness of KAIZEN principles
  • A continuous improvement mindset
  • Proven experience of implementing improvement initiatives
  • Confident, well organised, self-motivated, and able to work on own initiative
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Accurate attention to detail and numeracy literate
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • PC literate with intermediate knowledge of Excel, and user knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Windows, and Outlook
  • Flexible and proactive approach
  • Strong customer focus
