Transport And Inventory Operative
Location: Northwest Merseyside/Manchester/Warrington areas
Salary: £27,750 plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Full-time. Includes weekday shifts, out-of-hours working, weekends, bank holidays and overtime as required. Shift patterns may vary based on operational needs.

As a Transport and Inventory Operative in our Asylum Accommodation and Support Services (AASC) team, you’ll help deliver essential transport and logistics services that support people and communities across the Northwest region. From transporting service users and household goods to maintaining accurate records and ensuring safe operations, your work will have a direct and meaningful impact.
Working in a fast-paced, field-based role, you’ll help create impactful solutions that support the delivery of vital public services. Through care, trust and professionalism, you’ll contribute to a service where our work touches lives every day, helping us impact a better future for the people and communities we serve.
What you’ll do as a Transport and Inventory Operative
- Safely drive company vehicles in line with company policies, procedures and relevant driving regulations.
- Transport service users, dependent children, furniture, household goods and other items across the region.
- Carry out vehicle inspections, arrange servicing and MOTs, and report defects to maintain vehicle compliance.
- Complete accurate documentation and use internal IT systems for journey reporting and administrative tasks.
- Maintain effective communication with operational teams, stakeholders and external agencies as required.
- Conduct dynamic risk assessments, follow health and safety procedures, and support emergency or contingency response activities when needed.
Does this sound like you?
- Full UK Category B driving licence.
- Good understanding of UK driving regulations and safe driving practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, alongside other IT systems.
- Able to prioritise workloads, solve problems and make informed decisions in a fast-moving environment.
- Organised, reliable and committed to delivering excellent service standards.

Vetting and checks:
This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
