Environmental Conditions

Job Description

Site Specialist II – Unity Lab Services

Location: Lonza Biologics, Slough, UK

Work Schedule: Part-Time, Standard (Mon-Fri), Monday through Friday, 11:30-15:30

At Unity Lab Services, we strive for excellence in laboratory support services that enable customers to focus on scientific work. As a Site Specialist II, you will play a key role in supporting on-site laboratory operations at our Lonza Biologics Slough site, ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant lab environments. You will act as a trusted on-site partner to our customers while representing Thermo Fisher Scientific’s high standards of service and operational excellence. You'll maintain stockrooms, manage chemical inventories, process lab materials, and ensure smooth operations while adhering to safety protocols and quality standards. Through attention to detail and commitment to service excellence, you'll help advance scientific discovery by supporting efficient lab operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain laboratory inventory by monitoring stock levels, coordinating replenishment, and updating records using the Thermo Fisher ULSIM App and handheld scanners
  • Receive, process, store, and distribute laboratory consumables and chemicals daily while maintaining accurate inventory records and stock level
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and perform routine stock checks to ensure data integrity and inventory accuracy.
  • Ensure all activities comply with GMP/GLP requirements, quality standards, and health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and efficient laboratory and stockroom environment that supports operational excellence.
  • Work collaboratively with on-site customers and cross-functional teams to deliver responsive, high-quality laboratory support.
  • Consistently follow site safety procedures, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and promote a strong culture of safety.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in laboratory, warehouse, logistics, or customer service environment
  • Science-related background preferable
  • Experience in GMP/GLP environment preferred
  • Proficiency with inventory management systems and handheld scanners
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical ability to lift/push/pull 30-40 lbs regularly, up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods
  • Willingness to wear required PPE including lab coats, safety glasses, steel-toe shoes
  • Schedule flexibility required
  • Must maintain confidentiality and uphold company values
  • Experience in warehouse or stockroom operations, with a strong understanding of manual handling and workplace safety practices
  • Valid driver's license may be required for some positions

Compensation and Benefits

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
