Role: Investigation Team Manager (Operation Beaconport)

District/Department: Crime Services

Location: Europa View, Sheffield

Salary: £44,700 - £49,716

Hours: 37

Contract Type: Temporary for 12 months

Investigation Team Manager for Operation Beaconport, investigations selected nationally for further review into group-based child sexual exploitation and abuse between 2010-2025.

The Investigation Team Manager will lead a team through day-to-day activities of all investigations, being the key decision maker on investigations and progress.

The role will require the ability to communicate effectively with senior colleagues and teams alike, whilst working with external agencies to understand and develop processes to achieve the objectives of the team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the day to day running of the team and Operation Beaconport investigations by setting investigation direction and ensuring investigation strategies are adhered to.
  • Report into the Senior Investigating Officer providing strategic and tactical updates of the investigation and identifying good practice and highlighting risk.
  • Engage key stakeholders and attend/chair high-level multi-agency meetings as appropriate.
  • Maintain the efficient review and running of the investigations, ensure adequate staffing and resources by assessing workloads, demand, and risk vs investigative capacity on the team.
  • Act as the key decision maker on child abuse investigation progress including decisions whether to proceed further on individual investigations based on evidence and risk.
  • Ensure appropriate strategies and policies are adhered to ensuring effective victim care.
  • Quality assures reports and documents.
  • Chair meetings when appropriate.
  • Supervise and mentor staff within the team to ensure tasks are completed satisfactorily.
  • Carry out any other duties commensurate with the purpose and grading of the post that may from time to time be determined.

Skills and experience:

  • Accredited to PIP2 and have PIP2 Manager experience (ISM or equivalent)
  • Experience in operating at strategic management level
  • Experience of leading multiple PIP2 investigations
  • Must be able to successfully complete the HOLMES training course.
  • Excellent communications skills both written and oral and knowledge of the Criminal Justice System
