About this role
Your team
The Investment Accounting Group provides accounting and regulatory data services to financial institutions. The team delivers reconciliation, asset tracking and accounting, monthly reporting packages, and regulatory schedules. Working across a broad range of products and accounting requirements, the team helps clients meet their financial reporting and regulatory obligations while maintaining effective production processes and controls.
Your role and impact
As a Vice President in the Investment Accounting Group, you will support the delivery of accounting and reporting services while responding to the evolving needs and priorities of clients. You will support the monthly accounting close, lead client and departmental initiatives, strengthen processes and controls, and draw on capabilities from across BlackRock to deliver effective client outcomes. Your responsibilities
In every role at BlackRock, you'll be expected to apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and combine the curiosity to explore new approaches and technologies with the rigor to challenge the results. The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:
- Develop detailed knowledge of BlackRock’s capabilities, products, and services for financial institutions. Monitor accounting pronouncements and the evolving regulatory landscape, and clearly communicate their implications across multiple accounting bases, including United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and US statutory accounting.
- Support business growth, new client implementations, and client retention within the insurance sector. Represent investment accounting on cross-functional projects and working groups that advance business and client objectives.
- Enhance investment reporting production and control processes to improve efficiency, mitigate risk, and incorporate business and product changes. Maintain procedures that reflect current practices and work with vendor partners to communicate and advance development priorities.
- Provide accounting subject-matter support to clients through meetings, calls, and other direct interactions.
- Deliver periodic training to the Investment Accounting team, review quarterly National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and other regulatory reconciliations, drive appropriate follow-up and resolution, and support audits by reviewing results, responding to questions, and recommending control improvements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
