Investment Analyst – Private Markets / Real Assets
Caravel are working with a growing private investment firm to hire an Investment Analyst into its London team.
The business invests across real assets and the operating businesses built around them, taking a flexible and entrepreneurial approach to private-market investing. With a number of new investment opportunities currently being assessed, the team is looking to add an Analyst to support its next phase of growth.
This is a broad, generalist investment role rather than one where you will be confined to a particular sector or stage of the transaction process. Working within a small investment team, you will gain exposure across the full lifecycle of investments – from assessing new opportunities and underwriting transactions through to financing, portfolio management and eventual exit.
The role
You will work closely with senior investors across areas including:
- Screening and evaluating new investment opportunities
- Building detailed financial models and underwriting both assets and operating businesses
- Conducting commercial, financial and market due diligence
- Preparing investment papers, presentations and other transaction materials
- Meeting and assessing management teams, sellers and other counterparties
- Researching new sectors and investment themes
- Supporting transaction structuring, financing and capital raising
- Managing external advisers and reviewing third-party due diligence
- Working with portfolio businesses to implement value-creation strategies
- Supporting acquisitions, refinancings and disposals

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Because of the size and structure of the team, the successful candidate will have meaningful involvement in live transactions from an early stage, with exposure and responsibility that can be difficult to obtain within a larger investment platform.
Who we're looking for
We are interested in candidates with approximately 1–2 years' experience within areas such as:
- Investment banking or corporate finance
- Management consulting
- Principal investing
- Transaction or investment-related advisory
You should have some exposure to transactions or investments and, above all, be exceptionally strong analytically.
This role does not require someone to fit a particular investment-banking personality mould. A highly analytical, intellectually curious individual who enjoys getting into the detail and doing the underlying work will be equally attractive.
