Description
Mercer are looking to recruit a talented Investment Analyst to join our Liability Driven Investment (LDI) Portfolio Management Team. The LDI team sits within our Direct Investment Unit (DIU) which operates as an in-house asset manager for the Mercer business. This is a hybrid working role, based out of our London office 3 days per-week.
We are looking for an Investment Analyst to support the LDI Portfolio Management team with high-quality analytical, reporting, and tooling support across a range of portfolio management activities. This is a great opportunity to join the Asset Management side of the business in a role that offers strong exposure to government bonds and UK derivatives, with the chance to develop into a future Portfolio Manager.
The successful candidate will help improve efficiency, strengthen data quality, and enhance the team’s ability to monitor and manage client portfolios.
For this role we’re happy to consider a recent graduate in finance, mathematics, economics, engineering, data science, or a related discipline OR those with 1-3 years of experience in a similar role and are progressing towards CFA / Actuarial level.
This role is a fantastic entry point for someone who is ambitious, curious, and eager to build / continue a career in investment management.
We will count on you to:
- Support the LDI Portfolio Management team with day-to-day analytical and operational tasks.
- Produce accurate and timely portfolio analytics, reporting packs, and management information.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance tooling and reporting solutions to improve team efficiency and portfolio oversight.
- Assist with data extraction, validation, and reconciliation across internal systems and external inputs.
- Help monitor portfolio performance, exposures, and risk metrics, and contribute to portfolio reviews and governance materials.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
