Investment & Projects Manager
Location: Sherborne
Salary: c£50,000
Hours: 8.30am – 5.15pm
Permanent | Full Time | Hybrid Working Available
Are you a qualified accountant who enjoys getting involved in projects, improving processes and finding better ways of working? We are recruiting for an Investment & Projects Manager to join a highly professional and established private Family Office based near the Somerset/Dorset border.
This is a varied and influential position combining investment and wealth reporting, finance, corporate governance and project delivery. It would suit an experienced accountant who enjoys looking beyond the numbers and wants the opportunity to shape processes, improve systems and deliver meaningful operational change.
Working as part of a small, experienced team, you will have significant exposure across the organisation and the opportunity to develop into a Senior Manager position, with the potential to ultimately take responsibility for wider office operations.
The Role
As Investment & Projects Manager, you will support the delivery of financial, investment and compliance reporting while taking the lead on a number of strategic projects designed to improve the efficiency and scalability of the operation.
Your responsibilities will include:
Investment & Wealth Reporting
- Supporting the delivery and ongoing improvement of wealth and investment reporting.
- Reviewing wealth reporting information prior to submission.
- Assisting with investment performance reporting, asset revaluations and intercompany reconciliations.
- Preparing loan summaries, quarterly loan memoranda, loan schedules and asset statements.
- Monitoring loan and mortgage repayment dates and ensuring appropriate action is taken.
- Completing annual asset revaluations where required.
- Developing and maintaining accurate investment information and records.
- Creating and maintaining effective electronic investment databases and filing systems.
Finance & Reporting
- Supporting the finance function across a portfolio that includes a pension scheme and a small number of limited companies.
- Undertaking management-level reviews of financial information including management accounts, VAT returns, year-end financial statements and audit files.
- Supporting the team in meeting relevant tax, financial and governance obligations.
- Working closely with specialist finance and tax colleagues across the Family Office.

Corporate Governance
- Taking responsibility for company secretarial and corporate governance requirements.
- Preparing and filing confirmation statements, statutory returns and other required information.
- Maintaining statutory books, registers and corporate records.
- Keeping up to date with Companies House reforms and wider regulatory requirements.
Projects & Process Improvement
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes across finance, investment and compliance activities.
- Leading projects from initial concept through to implementation.
- Reviewing existing systems and identifying opportunities for sensible automation and improved ways of working.
- Producing project plans and system requirements and coordinating testing and implementation.
- Acting as a key point of contact between internal users, external suppliers and management.
- Supporting colleagues with the adoption of new systems, processes and procedures.
- Exploring how emerging technology, including AI, can be used appropriately to improve efficiency and reporting.
- Delivering an ongoing programme of practical operational improvements.
About You
We are looking for an experienced finance professional who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with a genuine interest in projects, systems and continuous improvement.
You will ideally have:
- A recognised accountancy qualification with at least three years’ relevant post-qualification or comparable experience within practice or industry.
- Strong financial reporting and accounting knowledge.
- Experience of reviewing financial information to a management level.
- Previous involvement in projects, system implementations or process improvements.
- An interest in technology and how it can be used to make finance and administrative processes more effective.
- Good Microsoft 365 skills, with advanced capability advantageous.
- Excellent organisational and administration skills.
- The ability to manage several priorities and workstreams simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A high level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
- A collaborative, approachable and professional working style.
You do not need to be an AI or technology specialist. More important is an understanding of how technology can support a modern finance function, together with the ability to lead projects and successfully implement improvements.
