About the role:
SoftBank Group International is seeking two high-performing professionals for a hands-on role across the AI stack: AI infrastructure (including data centers, compute and power), physical AI and robotics, and AI applications. This is not a typical VC / growth-equity role. It combines rigorous underwriting and transaction execution with project development and hands-on, day-to-day operational responsibilities. You will assess companies, assets and strategic partnerships, and then work with management teams and partners to translate investment theses into operating outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop investment theses and evaluate companies, assets and partnerships across AI infrastructure, physical AI and robotics, and AI applications.
- Support commercial, financial and technical diligence on data centre sites, development projects and operating assets, including land and site control, power reliability and time-to-power, fibre, permitting, cooling, design, construction, supply chain, customer demand and offtake.
- Assess investments in physical AI, robotics and AI applications, focusing on technology differentiation, market structure, business model, competition, unit economics, customer adoption and management quality.
- Build financial models and prepare investment committee materials across standalone and platform investments, clearly presenting valuation, financing, returns, sensitivities and key risks.
- Execute acquisitions, primary investments, joint ventures, project financings and partnerships from diligence through structuring, negotiation, approval and closing.
- Work hands-on with management teams and project partners after investment to deliver operating plans, commercial priorities, capital allocation and measurable value-creation milestones.
- Project-manage cross-functional teams and external stakeholders, including advisers, developers, utilities, authorities and prospective customers where relevant, tracking budgets, risks, decisions, critical paths and KPIs.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
