Madison Hunt is working with an established global private equity firm seeking to add an Investment Associate to its specialist Energy Transition investment team in London.
Operating within a broader large-cap investment platform, the team invests in businesses and asset-backed opportunities positioned to benefit from the long-term transformation of energy and industrial systems. Its remit spans areas such as cleaner energy, electrification, infrastructure modernisation, environmental solutions and the more efficient use of resources.
The strategy combines specialist sector knowledge with the capital, international reach and institutional value-creation capabilities of a major private equity firm. It seeks to support high-quality management teams in accelerating growth, expanding internationally and building market-leading businesses.

- Identifying and evaluating new investment opportunities
- Supporting the development of sector perspectives and investment theses
- Undertaking detailed financial, commercial and market analysis
- Building and reviewing financial models
- Supporting due diligence, transaction structuring and execution
- Preparing investment committee materials
- Coordinating with management teams, advisers and internal specialists
- Working alongside portfolio company leadership on strategic and value-creation initiatives
- Monitoring company performance and supporting follow-on investments and exit planning
Candidate Profile
Candidates are expected to have:
- Approximately two to four years of relevant professional experience
- Must ideally have a European language (French, Italian, German, Spanish or Nordics)
- Training from a leading investment bank, private equity firm, infrastructure investor or similarly rigorous investment environment
- Strong financial modelling, valuation and analytical capabilities
- Experience supporting complex M&A or principal investment transactions
- A clear interest in energy transition and the structural changes taking place across energy, infrastructure and industry
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to assess different business models
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A collaborative, intellectually curious and entrepreneurial approach

Prior energy-transition experience would be advantageous but is not essential. The team is equally interested in candidates with strong transaction fundamentals and a credible motivation to build their career in the sector.
