About the role:

British Solar Renewables (BSR) is seeking an Investment Associate to support the growth and optimisation of its renewable energy portfolio across the UK.

This role sits at the centre of the investment function, supporting opportunities across solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), wind and emerging clean energy technologies. Working alongside senior stakeholders across the business, you will be involved in evaluating new investments, executing transactions, supporting project financing activities and driving portfolio value optimisation.

This is an opportunity to gain exposure across the full investment lifecycle, from development-stage opportunities through to operational assets, while working on projects that contribute to the UK's energy transition.

This role can be based from our Somerset or London offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain and enhance detailed financial models to support investment decisions, acquisitions, project financing and portfolio optimisation.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities across renewable energy technologies, assessing commercial viability, risks and returns.
  • Support acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures and strategic partnerships, including the preparation of offers and investment proposals.
  • Coordinate due diligence processes with technical, legal, commercial and financial advisers.
  • Prepare investment committee papers, board presentations and decision-making materials.
  • Support debt raising, project financing and refinancing processes.
  • Assist in negotiating commercial agreements including PPAs, route-to-market agreements, financing arrangements, EPC agreements and O&M contracts.
  • Analyse revenue strategies and market opportunities across power markets and renewable energy sectors.
  • Monitor market developments, regulation and competitor activity to support investment strategy.
  • Work closely with Development, EPC, Asset Management, Legal and Finance teams throughout a project's lifecycle.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
