Investment & Development Associate
We are working with a well-capitalised, vertically integrated build-to-rent business to appoint an Investment & Development Associate.
The business invests in, develops, operates and asset manages its own residential communities. It has an established national portfolio, an active acquisitions strategy and significant capital ready to deploy.
This is a key hire within a lean, senior team. You'll play a central role in growing the pipeline and shaping where the business commits capital next.
The Role
You'll lead new BTR opportunities from first look through to acquisition:
- Sourcing and screening sites through agents, landowners, developers and funding partners
- Building and owning development appraisals and cash-flow models, including sensitivity and returns analysis
- Assessing feasibility across planning, design capacity, cost, rental levels and operational fit
- Preparing investment committee papers and presenting recommendations to senior leadership
- Negotiating heads of terms and leading due diligence through to exchange
- Structuring direct acquisitions, JVs and forward-funding or forward-commitment deals
- Working closely with the development and operations teams so schemes deliver to the business plan

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
