Role Overview

An established and growing renewable energy investment platform is looking to appoint an Investment Associate to support the expansion and optimisation of its UK portfolio.

The role will provide exposure across the full investment lifecycle, including new development opportunities, acquisitions, project financing, portfolio valuation, and commercial optimisation. The successful candidate will work across a range of renewable and clean energy technologies, including solar, battery storage, wind, and other emerging technologies.

A key element of the position will be developing and maintaining sophisticated financial models and using detailed analysis to inform investment decisions, financing strategies, and commercial negotiations.

The role will involve regular interaction with senior management, investors, lenders, professional advisers, and teams across development, finance, legal, construction, and asset management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and enhance detailed financial models for development projects, acquisitions, and portfolio investments.
  • Develop project finance, valuation, and investment models covering debt sizing, refinancing, returns, capital allocation, and portfolio value.
  • Assess new investment opportunities across renewable and clean energy technologies, from early-stage development through to construction.
  • Analyse projects against wider market, regulatory, and macroeconomic conditions to assess commercial viability and investment potential.
  • Support and, where appropriate, lead transactions including acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
  • Prepare transaction materials, including non-binding and best-and-final offers.
  • Coordinate financial, commercial, and technical due diligence with internal stakeholders and external advisers.
  • Prepare high-quality investment papers and presentations for senior management and investment committees.
  • Support the negotiation and review of key commercial and project agreements, including power offtake, route-to-market, optimisation, construction, operations, and financing arrangements.
  • Support project finance, debt raising, and refinancing processes, acting as a key point of contact for lenders and taking ownership of financial model execution.
  • Assess different revenue and commercial strategies, including power purchase arrangements, route-to-market structures, private-wire opportunities, and optimisation strategies.
  • Monitor relevant energy market developments, regulation, pricing trends, and competitor activity.
  • Present financial analysis, investment recommendations, and commercial conclusions to senior stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain portfolio funding forecasts to support capital planning and investment deployment.
  • Take ownership of allocated workstreams and ensure transactions and projects are progressed through to completion.
  • Work closely with Finance, Legal, Development, Construction, and Asset Management teams throughout the project lifecycle, from development through to operations and optimisation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
