Investment Banking Associate – Energy Infrastructure

Role Overview

We are seeking an Investment Banking Associate to join a growing Energy Infrastructure team, advising clients across the energy transition and broader infrastructure markets.

The successful candidate will work on a range of M&A, capital raising and strategic advisory transactions across sectors including renewable energy, battery storage, power and utilities, grid infrastructure, energy services and other energy transition assets.

This role offers significant transaction exposure, direct interaction with senior bankers and clients, and the opportunity to take increasing responsibility for deal execution and junior team development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions across the energy and infrastructure sectors.
  • Build and review detailed financial models, including DCF, precedent transaction, comparable company, project finance and leveraged valuation analyses.
  • Prepare transaction materials including pitch books, information memoranda, management presentations, valuation materials and investment committee papers.
  • Coordinate due diligence processes across financial, commercial, technical, legal and tax workstreams.
  • Analyse companies, projects and portfolios across renewable energy and infrastructure markets.
  • Support clients on equity and debt capital raising processes, including engagement with infrastructure funds, private equity investors, strategic investors and lenders.
  • Manage transaction workstreams and coordinate effectively with clients, counterparties and external advisers.
  • Conduct detailed market, company and sector research to support transaction origination and execution.
  • Develop valuation and strategic analysis for senior management, boards and shareholders.
  • Review the work of Analysts and provide guidance on modelling, valuation and transaction materials.
  • Support senior bankers with business development, client coverage and the preparation of new business proposals.

Sector Coverage

The team advises across a broad range of energy infrastructure and energy transition sectors, including:

  • Renewable energy – solar, onshore and offshore wind
  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Power generation and flexible generation
  • Grid and transmission infrastructure
  • Utilities and energy networks
  • EV charging and transport electrification
  • Distributed energy and energy services
  • Hydrogen and alternative fuels
  • Energy efficiency and decarbonisation infrastructure
  • Emerging energy transition technologies

Candidate Profile

  • Typically 3–5 years of relevant experience within investment banking, corporate finance, M&A or a closely related advisory environment.
  • Strong transaction experience, ideally within energy, power, utilities, infrastructure or natural resources.
  • Excellent financial modelling and valuation capabilities.
  • Demonstrable understanding of M&A transaction processes and financial due diligence.
  • Experience analysing infrastructure or energy assets would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and operate effectively in a fast-paced transaction environment.
  • Comfortable working directly with senior colleagues, clients and external advisers.
  • Strong academic background in finance, economics, engineering, mathematics or a related discipline.
