Investment Banking Associate – Debt Advisory

About the Role:

As a Baird Investment Banker, you will work alongside leading private equity sponsors, founder-led businesses and corporate clients on high-profile financing transactions and strategic capital solutions assignments. You will gain exposure to a broad range of industries, financing structures and market participants while helping clients achieve their strategic and financial objectives.

We are seeking an Investment Banking Associate to join our Debt Advisory team that is motivated to help support the continued growth of our Capital Solutions practice and is keen to gain high-quality financing and advisory experience.

The Impact You'll Make:

  • Providing quantitative, qualitative and analytical support across vanilla to stressed refinancings, recapitalisations, lender education processes, acquisition financings and other capital structure advisory assignments
  • Preparing financial models, debt capacity analyses, financing comparisons and client presentations
  • Supporting due diligence, legal workstreams, project management, lender engagement, transaction execution and financial/statistical analysis
  • Managing financing processes, including lender outreach, diligence coordination and transaction documentation

What You'll Bring to Baird:

Established Expertise:

  • Financial Acumen: Strong command of accounting principles, financial statement analysis and advanced financial modelling capabilities
  • Analytical Rigor: Proven ability to conduct detailed financial analysis, evaluate financing alternatives and synthesise insights
  • Communication Skills: Skilled in crafting compelling presentations and written materials for internal and external audiences
  • Project Leadership: Experience managing complex workstreams and meeting tight deadlines across multiple engagements

Debt Advisory & Capital Markets Knowledge:

  • Understanding of leveraged finance, private credit and debt capital markets
  • Experience supporting debt financing, refinancing, restructuring or broader transaction engagements
  • Knowledge of debt documentation, financing structures and credit analysis
  • Ability to assess financing alternatives and capital structure considerations
  • Commercial judgement and awareness of market dynamics affecting financing and M&A activity
  • Interest in capital markets, economic trends and private capital solutions

Qualifications & Experience:

We are interested in candidates who meet one of the following criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum 2:1 (or equivalent), preferably in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Engineering or a related discipline
  • Associate-level experience, or equivalent, within an investment bank or relevant industry
